It got quiet.
The thing you were fighting stopped fighting back. The practice you needed every morning became something you do most mornings. The hard part passed, and you didn't notice the day it did.
A man who'd stopped drinking wrote in with two words for a title and a question mark. Complacency or freedom?
He was still doing the work, still writing it down, still going over the old ground. But the urgency had gone out of it, and he could not tell, from the inside, which of the two he was looking at.
The calm you earn and the calm you hide in feel the same from the chair you're sitting in. That question was the only symptom he had left.
You've asked it. Not about drinking, maybe. About the gym you stopped needing to force. The anger that stopped coming. The thing you stopped watching. Is this steady, or is this me going soft and calling it steady.
There's one tell, and it isn't a feeling.
The one thing:
Take the quiet thing. Ask what you'd notice first if it left.
If the answer comes fast and specific, you're free. If you have to think about it, you already know which word.

P.S. I finished my 30-day Ash Journal run on July 30. In public, one page a day, no edits, all thirty.
Five minutes. One prompt. One line of ash. The first seven days are free: truevitalyou.com/journal
