There's something you bring up constantly and something you'd never mention. They're pointing at the same place.

Start with what you bring up. The hours. The five a.m. The fact that you handled it, again. You don't plan to say these things. They arrive on their own, and there's a small charge when they land.

Now the other pile. The help you got and didn't mention. The thing somebody else covered. The night you didn't cook, again. The part of the week you'd quietly edit out if someone asked how it's going.

Nobody hides a neutral fact. And nobody brings up something they don't need credit for.

So both piles are the same subject. One is how you want to be seen. The other is where you suspect the truth about you actually lives.

You built a personality out of one and a small silence around the other.

The one thing:

What did you edit out of the last honest conversation you had?

P.S. I finished my 30-day Ash Journal run on July 30. In public, one page a day, no edits, all thirty.

Five minutes. One prompt. One line of ash. The first seven days are free: truevitalyou.com/journal
