The cheap one broke again.
You'll order the same cheap one tonight. That's the fourth. Nine dollars, four times, on a problem the twenty-six dollar version would have ended two years ago.
You already have an explanation ready. Money was tight that first time.
It was true that first time. It wasn't true the fourth time. Something else was running.
Buying the good one is a claim. It says this is going to keep being my life, and the person living it is worth the difference. That's a bigger sentence than it looks like, and some part of you has not been willing to sign it.
So you buy the placeholder. Again. A placeholder commits you to nothing.
Look around the room you're in. Count what's temporary. The lamp you were going to replace. The setup that's fine for now. The thing you've been meaning to fix since you moved in.
You've been living in a rough draft, waiting for the real one to start.
Nobody told you it started already.
The one thing:
What's in your house that's still there "for now"?
Josh
P.S. I finished my 30-day Ash Journal run on July 30. In public, one page a day, no edits, all thirty.
Five minutes. One prompt. One line of ash. The first seven days are free: truevitalyou.com/journal
